Have you ever experienced a thunderstorm in the desert?

The answer is likely no because it is one of those amazingly rare things that happen. I had been obsessively checking on the weather during out shoot and it said there were clear skies. As you can tell there were clouds in the sky and it was overcast but when we arrived at our first location it was a perfectly beautiful evening.

Well, we started to drive to location number two and within two miles and a few minutes, the sky was very clearly angry. It was overcast and immediately we drove through a wall of water. Shoot, what was I going to do? I HAD to shoot because we had just drive two hours, my client had her makeup done and I was not about to end the shoot. We ran out in the drizzle ran and then quickly ran back in the car when the rain started to pick up. We had the brilliant idea of chasing the storm back down into the valley from the park so away we went driving around until we found random patches of rain where it was lighter to shoot in.

Suddenly, the sunset was happening and the sky created this most magical thing I have ever seen in my life. It was extremely storming on one side and then when you were facing the valley of 29 Palms, CA you could see it was glowing sunset. The creation was the most beautiful thing in the whole wide world.

And with all of that said, I am so incredibly thankful for clients who are adventurous and go along for the ride trusting that they will have true works of art. I am so excited to meet this sweet little girl in a couple of months!
