I frequently get asked how you should prepare for your intimate beach session, so I wanted to add a few little tips that will help the process go smoothly for you.

Never start with the ‘good stuff’
I never start with the sexy stuff first. I start getting to know my clients on more of a personal level. I want to get to know their likes/dislikes and be able to connect with them on a deeper level than just my clients. Most of my intimate beach sessions begin like a typical couple’s session. We want to tap really into the romantic side of your relationship.

Remember outfits are important!
I always tell my clients to remember that these photographs are a large investment and wardrobe along with hair & makeup are very important to the whole experience. These are memories that you are going to have forever and getting your hair/makeup done professionally is something that I believe is a key factor to optimize the amazing-ness that your photos are going to be. Similarly, wearing complementary colors are extremely important. Remember you want to coordinate. Avoid large patterns. For your second outfit, I highly suggest a bodysuit. Drinking beforehand?
A lot of people think they need to get completely wasted or super drunk before their session. PLEASE DON’T! Being sloppy is not a fun look on camera. Have a beer or a shot but please don’t be drunk.

The beach is so crowded- I am so nervous!
Yes, the beach can be crowded. In the summer, if you are worried about crowds I do recommend scheduling something for a weekday evening because the beach is a little less crowded. Otherwise, I think because of how comfortable and not taboo that I make the whole experience then I think that it is easier to warm up and just stay connected with your partner.

Most importantly, have fun with your spouse!
This really is the most important tip because these photos are truly a once in a lifetime experience. You will never be this young, this in love and this happy then you are at this moment. It is a truly special time for you to capture and keep as a memory forever. It is something to have when your sitting on your rocking chair, sipping on your sweet tea and looking back at the old times these are the photos that you will be referencing.
